Namaste Indian street food, located in Evans, GA, is bursting with flavor! This counter-service restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating. The menu is vast and with so many options can seem overwhelming at first, however, the staff is great at answering any questions you may have.
We ordered the garlicky cauliflower for our appetizer, the cauliflower was coated with a sweet and tangy sauce with bell peppers and onions. Taylor ordered the tandoori chicken, cooked in a clay oven, or tandoor as traditionally called, which creates a delicious, smoky flavor. The tandoori chicken is vibrant red in color due to the spices that are used (turmeric and chili powder), it is served on a smoking hot skillet garnished with vegetables. I ordered the chicken tikka masala which is a creamy spiced curry sauce with a tomato base. It’s the ultimate Indian comfort food! We ordered mushroom and truffle oil kulcha to dip in the leftover chicken tika masala sauce (trust me, you’re not going to want any to go to waste). The mushroom and truffle oil kulcha was warm, garlicky and mushroom stuffed, bursting with truffle flavor. Naan and kulcha seem to be the same, the difference that we found is that kulcha is made from white flour whereas naan is typically made from wheat flour.
We would love to go back and try some of the dessert options they offer on our next visit. They offer a rice pudding, as well as falooda which is essentially an ice cream dish made with noodles. On a previous visit, we tried the mango lassi, which has a creamy smoothie-like texture and consistency, and were very pleased with it!
With all of the great Indian restaurants in the Augusta area, Namaste has chosen to break out of the traditional mold of Indian cuisine as we know it and we think that they just may be on to something…
Namaste (goodbye)
‘til the next bite,
